Hi everyone! How's 5th grade going? I hear that it's tough. Hang in there though, next year this work will look like a breeze! Good advice for all of you is to read, read, and read some more!
Read in school. Read in a pool. Read in your bed. Read on your head. Read, read, and read some more!
Read in a nook. Read while you cook. Read while you eat. Read to a beat. Read a short story. Read of 'Old Glory' (that's our American flag). Read science fiction. Read about Nixon. Read a fat, juicy novel or some political diction. Read, read, and read some more. Reading's the best way to a fantabulous score.
The brain is a muscle, exercise it!!
Mr. Leone was my 5th grade teacher in P.S. 72 in the Bronx. He was one of the best teachers I ever had. (It probably helped that I was the teacher's pet!) He turned us on to reading because he loved it so much. He lent me a book (that I read in a nook:))that changed my life. It was called "Are you there, God? It's me Margaret". All of you girls will enjoy it very much. It's a classic. Please look for it in the library.
Anyway, stay focused and all of your hard work will pay off.
Any one interested in starting a kids book club? It would be fun to trade/borrow books that others have liked.
